In-person visits to the Library must be scheduled at least two days in advance. Schedule your appointment by completing the online form.

The visit is exclusively for accessing Library services, and for academic and research purposes.

Anyone entering to the Library must visibly wear a valid credential provided or validated by the Security and Safeguard Section, responsible for access control to ECLAC.

To obtain the credential, individuals must present a valid identification document. Accepted identification documents, whether national or foreign, include:

  • Identity card.
  • Driver's license.
  • Passport.
  • Identification document issued by the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Laissez-passer.
  • UN staff credential issued by another headquarters with the same standard format for use at ECLAC and of the smartcard type.

Additionally, all visitors must undergo a security screening process, including the inspection of personal belongings using scanners, portals, and/or manual metal detection palettes.

Anyone entering or leaving the headquarters must mark their credential on the PACT System reader plates provided for this purpose.

People authorized to visit the Library must enter the ECLAC building exclusively through the south entrance (Av. Dag Hammarskjöld, 3477, Vitacura).

Visitors are not allowed to move around on their own in unauthorized areas or offices. In case of an emergency during their stay at the Library, visitors must follow the instructions of the Security Officers.

Visitors may not take photographs of United Nations staff members or of the security devices in and around the building.
